Jim Gerhard, Ed.D.
Dr. Jim Gerhard represesents EARCOS on the ACS WASC Commission. Dr. Gerhard has been director of the Seoul International School in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) since. 2022. A native of New York, Dr. Gerhard has served in educational leadership positions for over 18 years across elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as in the role of school director. His extensive experience includes school admissions, curriculum coordination, and faculty and leadership professional development. Throughout his career, he has worked in international schools in Kuwait, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Burma, and Sierra Leone. Dr. Gerhard previously served as a school coordinator with the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and as an active member of the Southeast Asian Schools Activities Conference (SEASAC) league. He currently serves as chair of the Korean-American Interscholastic Activities Conference (KAIAC) Heads of School committee in Seoul. Prior to his leadership positions, Jim taught history, government, and economics in public and alternative schools in New York. Dr. Gerhard also serves as an examiner with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and is actively involved in international education through his service on the board of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS), where he serves as executive secretary.
