Danny Blas

Danny Blas is the California Teachers Association representative on the ACS WASC Commission. He has been a teacher in the San Diego Unified School District for eleven years, currently teaching history at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, a public arts magnet school. Prior to a teaching career, Danny was a marketing communications professional in Chicago, Illinois, deploying training and technology for BP Amoco and Unilever. Danny was one of six children in a United States Air Force family, growing up on bases in Guam and Illinois. Danny loves being a teacher, and is committed to making classrooms a space where all students are provided with the tools to fulfill their dreams of becoming wonderful human beings. Secondary to teaching and learning, Danny enjoys performing original music in his rock band, making delicious, smoke-flavored barbecue, traveling to far-flung destinations, the preservation of his Chamorro culture and language, watching Arsenal F.C. win football matches, pairing craft beers with good friends, and delivering as many smiles to as many people as possible each day.
